OKLAHOMA CITY - A couple of armed robbers left behind quite the trail after holding up a metro deli.

It happened early Monday morning at Jason’s Deli on Northwest Expressway.

You wouldn't know it now, but the busy lunch hour deli was the target of an armed robbery.

Just hours before hungry customers came through the doors, so did a couple of men with guns.

They didn't want food.

They were after money.

"They ordered one of the employees to get cash and then ordered the rest of the employees onto the floor, where they held them at gunpoint until they received the money that they were after,” said Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Megan Morgan.

There were four employees and two suspects.

Three of those workers were cornered and ordered to the ground, while one them was forced to the store safe.

"One of them told one of the employees to go get them and went with them, and the other one held the other employees face down on the ground at gunpoint,” Morgan said.

The store manager said the suspects stuffed money inside their pockets, and it was falling out in the store on their way out of the building. When officers arrived, they saw a trail of that money coming out the front door and down an alley."

"When officers arrived, they actually observed there was a cash trail leading from the restaurant out to the alley,” Morgan said. "As they were running, they lost some of the money which is what created that money trail."

Officers followed that trail, but it went it cold.

They believe the suspects may have run to a nearby apartment complex.

It was a scary morning for the employees but, despite all that happened, they never stopped working and finished their shift.

Nobody was hurt.
