OKLAHOMA CITY – One of the final landmarks that honored a popular NBA superstar is being renamed.

On Monday, Hal Smith Restaurants announced that Kd’s, a popular restaurant with southern cuisine in Bricktown, is closing its doors.

In its place will be a new restaurant with a similar menu and updated atmosphere.

“It has been an honor- and a lot of fun- to partner with Kevin Durant at Kd’s these last few years,” Hal Smith said. “We wish him the very best as he takes a new direction in his career.”

Smith closed the restaurant on Sunday and his team is already working on the change.

He also says that employees are being offered the opportunity to stay with the company during the transition, with pay.

The restaurant is set to reopen shortly after Labor Day. A new name and concept will be announced in August.
