LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Trooper John Morris was hoping the caller was mistaken.
However, he wasted no time heading to the U.S. 95 near Durango after someone reported seeing three children walking and riding a bicycle along the freeway.
According to KSNV, the caller told dispatch that the oldest child, who is 17-years-old, was riding his bicycle with his youngest brother sitting on handle bar.
When Morris found the trio, they were taking a break along the inside shoulder in the shade.
He learned they were trying to take a shortcut to the store, but ended up getting lost.
“My main concern was getting them off the highway and they didn’t get hit. Getting them to safety and making sure they were hydrated,” Morris told KSNV.
While trying to get a hold of their mother at work, Morris ended up taking them to the store and treating the boys to ice cream.
He had no idea that his actions would be caught on camera and posted to social media.
