EL RENO, Okla. – Authorities in El Reno are warning residents and businesses of a potential scam in the area.

On July 26, two businesses called the El Reno Police Department after they say they were called by someone who claimed to be with OG&E.

The caller told them that they were behind on their utility bills, adding that their service would be disconnected.

However, the businesses knew they were current on their accounts, so they called OG&E and the police.

The El Reno Police Department says that it wants to remind all businesses and citizens to never give any bank, credit card or account information to anyone soliciting over the telephone or in person.

If in doubt, call law enforcement.
