HOUSTON, Texas – A 17-year-old girl is out of a job after she said she tried to help someone suffering from an asthma attack.
She says she immediately called for zoo rangers and learned the woman was struggling to breathe after suffering an asthma attack.
Chapa says she picked the woman up and carried her toward the exit, where first responders could get to her.
The next day, she learned that she was being fired.
Houston Zoo officials would not comment specifically on the incident to KTRK, but said employees are instructed “not to touch or move or carry anyone in medical distress.”
The woman was taken to a hospital.
