Firefighters battling fire near downtown Oklahoma City; drivers encouraged to avoid the area

OKLAHOMA CITY – It was a chaotic scene near downtown Oklahoma City on Friday morning.

Shortly before 11 a.m., firefighters were called to a building near S.W. 2nd and S. Ellision Ave. after smoke and flames were seen coming from a nearby building.

Initial reports indicated that firefighters were concerned the ceiling may collapse in one portion of the building.

Officials say this is the third fire in three years at an abandoned building that was once Buddy’s Produce. Fire investigators say multiple fires were set inside the building.
