Body camera

NORMAN, Okla. – Police officers in Norman will be getting an extra piece of gear to try out for the next few weeks.

On Tuesday, the Norman Police Department began using 12 body-worn cameras for a three-week field testing program.

Officials say that patrol, traffic and officers in the investigations divisions will begin wearing cameras from three different vendors.

Once the department chooses one vendor, they will work to purchase the cameras for every officer by the end of the year.
