CAPE COD, Mass. – It was supposed to be a relaxing trip to vineyard, but it took an interesting turn when passengers on a ferry noticed something strange in the water.

Sightseeing passengers who were about to reach a vineyard near Cape Cod spotted a dog paddling in the middle of the ocean.

When the captain found out about the stranded pup, he attempted to rescue it, but the waves from the ferry were too large for the dog.

At that point, the crew alerted a nearby fishing boat to ask for help.

“Everyone on the boat was like, ‘Oh my God! We have to help him!” Carol Potier told NECN.

Fortunately, the fishermen were able to grab the dog and bring him on board.

“They wrapped him in a towel and just sort of held him in his arms, and the whole boat went up in a cheer,” she said.
