Man shot in the chest at Edmond apartment complex, 3 arrested

EDMOND, Okla. – One man was shot in the chest at an Edmond apartment complex overnight.

Around 1 a.m., police say a man showed up to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim was alert and able to tell police he was shot at the Dillon Park Apartments, near Danforth and Bryant.

The victim, identified as 18-year-old Joel Leburu, is expected to survive.

On Friday afternoon, authorities announced that three people are in custody, but they continue to search for a fourth suspect.

Police arrested 19-year-old Christopher McKee for conspiring to perform an act of violence, 19-year-old Cody Spess for shooting with intent to kill and 20-year-old Javarius Brantley for shooting with intent to kill.

Investigators say the men went to the apartment complex to confront someone about a drug transaction.

Officials say Leburu was not involved in the drug transaction, but came outside to see what was going on. Apparently, he asked the men to leave and he was shot in the chest.
