You probably remember him as Bo Duke in "The Dukes of Hazzard" or Jonathan Kent on "Smallville", John Schneider is opening up about the devastation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana during record-breaking and deadly flooding is happening.
Schneider lives outside Baton Rouge where he has set up John Schneider Studios and the flooding hit his area hard. His home, offices and sound stage all have damage. At one point nearly 3 feet of water was inside the 116-year old home.
Gov. John Bel Edwards said at least 40,000 homes have suffered at least some damage. The US Coast Guard, National Guard, local emergency responders and even neighbors have helped rescue more than 30,000 residents and 1,400 pets and at least 13 people have died across five parishes.
Most amazing, he says, is the response by people in the area. Even those who have lost their entire homes have come by to help him and others. The spirit and determination he sees in the people of not only Louisiana but those from other states who have come down to help all those in need is, in his own words, "astonishing."
