OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma woman was arrested after allegedly stealing pills from a hospital patient’s room.

On Aug. 17, officers were called to an Oklahoma City hospital after staff noticed pill bottles belonging to a patient in the trash can.

According to the arrest affidavit, staff members saw 58-year-old Cheryl Anderson on the hospital’s surveillance cameras taking a pill bottle from a patient’s room.

When officers arrived, they found Anderson passed out on a patient’s bed.

According to the arrest affidavit, Anderson apologized for taking the pills.

“I asked [Anderson] why she would go into a person’s purse and take tablets which did not belong to her. [Anderson] stated, ‘The lady’s medication was sitting on the desk. I passed by a door and saw a prescription bottle. I don’t know why I took them; I guess stupidity.”

Anderson was arrested for larceny and larceny of a controlled dangerous substance.
