CHESTER, S.C.– Angela Blackwell appeared in court Tuesday, following her arrest in the death of her four-day-old son.

The 27-year-old mother was denied bond and charged with homicide by child abuse.

The infant died on February 27th from hypothermia with asphyxiation from being shut inside of a refrigerator.

Deputies say Blackwell did not seek medical attention for the boy until he had already been in the refrigerator for three hours.

First responders attempted to revive the infant and took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Blackwell’s father-in-law says he doesn’t believe she is responsible for her son’s death.
