NORMAN, Okla. – It’s something a lot of Norman residents are used to these days, but city leaders say traffic during OU football games is about to get worse.

The Norman Police Department sent notices to dozens of residents about a new traffic plan that will be implemented this season.

Due to construction on Lindsey St., the City of Norman will make Flood Ave. one-way for northbound traffic between Boyd St. and Main St. following all OU home games.

Officials say Flood Ave. will remain one-way for up to three hours following the end of the game.

City leaders say the change is to help improve traffic congestion between the stadium and the Main St./ I-35 interchange.

The University of Oklahoma will hold its first home game on Saturday, Sept. 10 with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
