DICKSON, Okla. – Authorities say a 16-year-old boy is dead following an accident on a county road on Thursday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m., officers were called to an accident on a county road just two miles south of the town of Dickson.

Troopers say a 16-year-old boy was driving a 2008 Ford with another 16-year-old boy in the passenger seat.

Investigators say the vehicle was traveling too fast and the driver lost control, causing the Ford to roll.

Troopers say the driver was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle during the crash.

He was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital but died from his injuries on Friday morning.

The 16-year-old passenger was wearing his seat belt and was treated and released for his injuries.
