Festivals, fun events to celebrate the holiday weekend

OKLAHOMA CITY – It’s the last holiday weekend of the summer, and it’s time to make the most of it.

West Fest will be Saturday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Western Ave. between 41st and 43rd St. This is a free street festival with two outdoor stages, food trucks and a lot of shops and restaurants.

There is also free fishing on Saturday in Oklahoma City parks. No city permit is required, but a state fishing license is necessary for anyone 16 and older.

There is a free Labor Day celebration at the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur. It will feature stomp dances, cultural demonstrations and activities in the living village. It will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

‘Discover Oklahoma’ will air Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on NewsChannel 4.
