LINCOLN COUNTY, Okla. – A murder suspect is in custody following an hours-long manhunt and standoff with Oklahoma authorities.

Jeremy Tyson Irvine is wanted for the murder of Robert Godwin, Jr.

Godwin was found dead in a rural area near Stroud back in July.

When authorities attempted to serve Irvine an arrest warrant Thursday, he ran off into the woods behind his house in Tryon with a rifle, officials said.

Multiple law enforcement agencies from the area were called to assist in the search for Irvine.

At some point, officials believe Irvine made his way back to his home.

When officials found Irvine was inside his home, they engaged in a standoff with the suspect.

After nine hours, officers were finally able to take the man into custody.

Authorities say he peacefully surrendered.

No other information has been released at this time.
