SHAWNEE, Okla. – A local charity is trying to recover after it was targeted by thieves.

According to the Shawnee News Star, the Salvation Army’s Family Store was burglarized by thieves who pried open a door on Friday night.

Officials say thieves made off with cash, jewelry and clothing, and damaged several displays throughout the store.

The Salvation Army’s Family Store sells donated items at a reduced cost to help families in need. The store allows families who need things like clothing to ‘shop’ for items they need with clothing vouchers. Also, any proceeds from sales to the public go to support other Salvation Army programs.

Shawnee’s Salvation Army Family Store is located at 330 E. 9th St.
