ATOKA, Okla. – An Oklahoma man was killed less than 24 hours before his son’s wedding near Atoka.

According to KXII, 74-year-old Samuel Lovelace was leaving the rehearsal dinner for his son’s wedding late Friday night when his car collided with a semi-truck on U.S.  Hwy 69.

Tragically, Lovelace died at the scene.

Lovelace’s family thought about postponing the wedding, but decided to celebrate his life and his son’s future the next day.

“We all thought about it and he called me and said that it’s not what dad would’ve wanted, he would have wanted us to go through with this. He was so happy last night,” said Chris Graham, who is a friend of Lovelace’s friend.

Lovelace wasn’t the only one who was injured at the crash site.

Steve Walker, a 52-year-old Choctaw tribal security officer, saw the wreck and decided to help. However, he was hit by a fire truck at the scene.

Now, he is in the ICU with bleeding and swelling on the brain.
