OKLAHOMA CITY – A local animal rescue organization is warning generous Oklahomans about solicitors in Oklahoma City.

The Central Oklahoma Humane Society says it has received several phone calls about a group soliciting door-to-door donations in a handful of neighborhoods.

Residents in Edgemere Park, Mesta Park, The Paseo and Heritage Hills have all reported seeing the solicitors.

However, the humane society says they are not affiliated with the group.

Instead, the rescue says the solicitors are dressed in Humane Society of the United States gear, an organization with no affiliation to the Central Oklahoma Humane Society.

The organization says it has filed a report with the Oklahoma City Police Department.

UPDATE: The Central Oklahoma Humane Society learned on Thursday that the solicitors are working for the Humane Society of the United States.
