Oklahoma mother pleads guilty to enabling child abuse after child rushed to hospital
LAWTON, Okla. – An Oklahoma mother has pleaded guilty to enabling child abuse following an investigation in 2015.
According to KSWO, authorities began investigating the case after a 1-year-old child was brought to an Oklahoma hospital.
Authorities say the child was unresponsive and had bruises all over her body. Doctors also learned that she had bleeding on the brain.
Police arrested the child’s mother, Joann Garza, after she admitted that her boyfriend, Eddie Cano, had beaten the girl at least twice a week for the previous three weeks.
KSWO reports that Garza has pleaded guilty to enabling child abuse and will be sentenced in November.
Cano already pleaded guilty to child abuse and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
