NOBLE, Okla. – An organization that cares for injured wild animals was recently given dozens of turtles that were captured in a trap.

WildCare Oklahoma says a man and his son brought in 32 turtles that were captured in a trap.

The turtles, which are red-eared sliders and Missouri cooters, were trapped in water for some time.

Rescuers say three turtles died because there were too many turtles in the trap, meaning they couldn’t get to the surface to breathe.

Also, WildCare says several of the turtles have worn through their shell by rubbing against the wire trap for so long.
