Teammate Had Brain Surgery Monday

HASKELL, Okla. –It was a different feeling as Haskell High School took the field on Friday night.

The team is still dealing with the loss of their running back, Reuben Thomas.

Thomas was injured last week when he took a hit during Haskell’s game in Henryetta.

He was flown to a Tulsa hospital, where he underwent surgery on Monday for a severe brain injury.

Family members tell KJRH that Thomas’ condition has steadily been improving since surgery.

On Friday night, Haskell High School took the field for the first time since Thomas’ injury.

All the players wore No. 33 on their helmets to honor Thomas, while his brother wore his jersey during the game.
