LAWTON, Okla. –  Authorities say a 71-year-old man died after falling from his boat while fishing on Lake Elmer Thomas in southwest Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Jay Woodward of Indiahoma was fishing with another person Sunday afternoon in Comanche County when he fell out of the boat “because of an unknown medical condition.”

The highway patrol says a passenger in the boat brought Woodward to the shore and attempted CPR, but Woodward did not survive.

Authorities do not yet know what caused Woodward to fall into the water, and his body has been sent to the medical examiner’s office in Oklahoma City for an autopsy.
