NORMAN, Okla. - Thursday night, Norman’s financial committee will talk about getting a BearCat for the police department.

The armored vehicle has been at the center of controversy.

In August of 2015, the city council considered purchasing one, but the item was tabled.

The topic has not made the Norman City Council’s agenda since then, and a group of residents want to keep it that way.

Hear why opponents feel the vehicle could hurt relations between the community and police force Wednesday night on NewsChannel 4 at 10.

Also, hear from the police chief who said the BearCat is a necessary tool.
