TULSA, Okla. – Linda Williams is furious with the way her mother died.

In August, Williams’ mother, 84-year-old Mary Schlecht, was found dead on a bus after a field trip with her assisted living center.

Health department officials say the bus driver did not do a headcount after the field trip when the group arrived back at the center in Tulsa.

At that point, authorities allege that the driver parked the bus and locked the doors, not knowing that Schlecht was still on the bus.

According to FOX 23, no one looked for Schlecht for 28 hours. During that time, she was trying to get off the hot bus, but was not physically able to open the locked doors.

Schlecht was eventually found lying in the stairwell of the bus.

Now, Williams is suing Brookdale Tulsa Midtown, Brookdale Senior Living Communities, the woman who organized the field trip and the bus driver.
