It’s not often that James Washington sees more action in warmups than in the actual game.

Yet according to Mike Gundy the Jayhawks made that a priority double covering him all afternoon.

Just last year it may have ended OSU’s offensive efforts.

“Teams were dropping seven and eight, and we weren’t as effective in the run game,” said Mason Rudolph, OSU quarterback.  This year we are.  Credit to those guys up front, and the running backs.  They’re all working hard.  We have really good depth with Chris Carson coming back, and Rennie and obviously Justice so I was pleased.”

Part of the ground game’s success came from Chris Carson.

Who tallied three touchdowns after missing the last four games due to injury.

“You can’t take this for granted,” said Chris Carson, OSU running back.  “This is my last five, six games that I have.  I just want to make the most of each carry, each play I have out there.  The offensive line is doing great.  Justice is in the backfield doing unbelievable things right now.  It’s just something I wanted to be a part of, and contribute as much as I can.”

Saturday was as special as they come for Ben Grogan setting the Cowboy career mark for extra points made, and more importantly he became OSU’s all time leading scorer on a perfect afternoon for him through extra points, and field goals with 14 total points.

Passing someone he’s long looked up to in former Cowboy kicker Dan Bailey.

The afternoon was even more special considering his family was there to see it all.

“It was definitely good to see my family,” said Grogan, OSU’s field goal kicker.  “They’re very supportive of me.  They got me to where iI am today.  I always appreciate them being here.”

“It was a great accomplishment for him,” said Mike Gundy, OSU head football coach.  “He’s a great young man.  A hard worker.  Self motivated.  It’s a great team award.  Obviously you have to score a lot, or get in position to score a lot for him to break that record."
