NORMAN, Okla. -- Newly released documents detail the altercation that got OU's running back benched for a game.
According to the incident report, OU running back Joe Mixon received a parking ticket in the campus’ north oval on November 1st.
After the citation was written, Mixon allegedly approached the parking officer and said “Don’t put that sh*t in my face.”
He then reportedly ripped the ticket in half and threw it at the attendant, then “inched at the officer with his vehicle in drive to intimidate the officer.”
Mixon then allegedly parked again on the oval despite a warning from the attendant that he could no longer park there.
He was suspended from the Iowa State game.
Two years ago, he was suspended for the entire season after punching a woman.
Sooner students are speaking out.
"If we've seen he has an issue in the past with something like that, we should probably look into that and see if that is a problem that's reoccurring so it's good that they kind of took action on that,” Rapinder Sandhu said.
“I mean missing a game is huge for college athletes. Especially one who's good and could possibly go to the NFL,” Zach Bennett shared why he thinks it was a good punishment.
Mixon has since apologized, saying he accepts the consequences.
However, some students want tougher punishment.
"He drove his car at her, I think that's violent, and like suspended from the game? That's not good enough,” Lillian Lowell said.
"Probably maybe the rest of the season would have been better,” Alexis Lanzo said.
