DEL CITY, Okla. — A four-year-old boy is healing after he accidentally shot himself in the early morning hours following Halloween night.

The boy’s mom, Tracy Bocquin, 30, was arrested shortly after the shooting.

The boy’s father, Henry Hoffman, 25, took off the night of the shooting.

However, Hoffman was finally captured on Saturday.

Police say the child shot himself in the 2300 block of Mansfield Drive in Del City.

Neighbors reported hearing loud fighting outside of the house that night.

According to police, Bocquin and Hoffman had been arguing when Hoffman pulled out a weapon.

Police say Hoffman put a loaded handgun inside the house near a backpack, right before the little boy picked up the weapon and accidentally shot himself in the stomach.

The bullet passed through the toddler’s abdomen and left his body near his buttocks.

“The child found the bag and was playing with the gun when he shot himself in the stomach,” said Del City Police Major Jody Suit. “The child was very seriously injured but survived surgery. We believe he will survive his injuries.”

Inside the house, police found meth and marijuana next to children’s books and toys.

Police immediately arrested the mom on drug charges and child endangerment.

Hoffman was arrested Saturday for child neglect, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of marijuana.

Two others who were at the house that night were also arrested.
