SAN ANTONIO, Texas – When you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, it can feel hopeless.
However, doctors say a new approach to cancer treatment could change the way they fight the disease.
According to WOIA, the Food and Drug Administration just approved an immunotherapy treatment drug to fight cancer.
Cancer cells have adapted to fool the body’s immune system, and our immune system is designed to get rid of foreign invaders. Invaders like cancer,” said Dr. Anand Karnad, chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology at UT Health Science Center San Antonio.
The immunotherapy works by stopping cancer’s ability to turn off a person’s immune system.
Doctors say it doesn’t work for everyone but the results have been promising on many patients.
