OKLAHOMA CITY – The tables were turned during a Veterans Day assembly at an Oklahoma elementary school on Friday morning.

One class at Grove Valley Elementary School decided to adopt a teacher’s husband after learning that he was serving in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Turkey.

The kids sent Logan care packages with cards, snacks and video games for him to enjoy while he was away from his family.

When he came home, he brought back a flag that was flown over Iraq and Syria during an air refueling mission.

On Friday morning, Logan attended the school’s Veterans Day assembly and presented the flag to the kids.

A group of World War II Veterans attended the ceremony and were recognized for their service.
