OKLAHOMA CITY -  Police have identified the two officers involved in a deadly confrontation with an armed suspect.

Around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, police were called to reports of a disturbance at the Brookwood Village apartments near S.W. 89th and Western.

Multiple residents called 911 to report gunshots fired at the apartment complex.

Investigators say two men broke into an apartment and started beating another man who was inside the apartment with his wife.

When Sgt. Daniel Herring and Officer Nicholas Wallace arrived on scene, they found the three men outside of the apartment.

When officers approached the area, one of the suspects ran away from the officers, while another suspect, who was armed with a handgun, became involved in a confrontation with the officers, police say.

During the confrontation, officials say the armed suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Daniel Laguna, was shot and killed by police.

The reason for the attack on the man inside the apartment is still unknown.

Fortunately, the officers were not injured.

Police are still trying to identify the second suspect involved in the crime.

The investigation is ongoing.

Both officers have been placed on routine administrative leave pending the investigation.
