Teenage singer, family members killed in car accident after band competition

GREENE COUNTY, Ind. – A teenager and two family members were killed in an accident on their way home from a band competition.

Sophie Rinehart, 17, performed for the Bands of America to support the Castle High School marching band on Saturday.

On her way home from Indiana, Rinehart and her family hit a deer and had to pull over to the side of the road on early Sunday morning.

Investigators say another driver weaved off the road and hit the Rinehart’s vehicle.

 WXIN reports that Sophie Rinehart, 46-year-old David Rinehart, and 74-year-old Ruth Rinehart were all killed in the crash.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
