Burning hay bales make early morning fire difficult to extinguish

Barn fire in S.W. OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY – Firefighters have been working  for hours to extinguish a barn fire.

Around 4:53 a.m., fire crews were called to reports of a barn fire in the 2300 block of Hill Rd, near S.W. 164th and Penn.

The barn and approximately 700 hay bales are on fire.

Fire officials say hay bales are extremely difficult to extinguish.

No injuries have been reported.

No word on what started the fire at this time.
