Oklahoma road construction you need to know about before holiday travel next week
OKLAHOMA– The following construction projects will impact travel on major highways and interstates Thursday, Nov. 24, through Sunday, Nov. 27.
I-40 narrowed at SH-30, Beckham Co.
I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between SH-30 (mm 7) and S. 4th St. (mm 20) near Erick for bridge and pavement rehabilitation.
I-40 narrowed in McIntosh Co.
I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction from two miles west of Tiger Mt. Rd. (mm 246) to one mile west of Pierce Rd. (mm 254), between Henryetta and Checotah in McIntosh County for pavement rehabilitation.
I-40 narrowed at SH-150, McIntosh Co.
Eastbound I-40 is narrowed to one lane over SH-150 (mm 259) between Henryetta and Checotah for pavement rehabilitation.
I-35 narrowed, ramps closed near Wynnewood, Garvin Co.
I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between SH-29 (mm 66) and SH-17A (mm 64) near Wynnewood. The southbound I-35 on-and off-ramps at SH-29 are also closed for bridge rehabilitation. Detour: SH-17A and US-77
US-69 narrowed near McAlester, Pittsburg Co.
US-69 narrowed to one lane each direction from SH-63 north to McAlester for resurfacing.
US-69 narrowed near Savanna, Pittsburg Co.
Southbound US-69 is narrowed to one lane between Savanna and Kiowa for resurfacing.
US-64 narrowed near Roland, Sequoyah Co.
Westbound US-64 is narrowed to one lane near Roland at the Oklahoma/Arkansas state line for bridge rehabilitation.
SH-51 and US-177 narrowed near Stillwater, Payne Co.
SH-51 (Sixth St.) traffic is narrowed to one lane in each direction and US-177 (Perkins Rd.) is narrowed to one lane in each direction for the reconstruction of the roadway and bridges at this intersection in Stillwater.
SH-51 narrowed near SH-18, Payne Co.
SH-51 is narrowed to one lane in each direction 2 miles east of SH-18 with the use of temporary traffic signals just west of Yale for a bridge rehabilitation project.
US-283 narrowed near Altus, Jackson Co.
US-283 is narrowed to one lane with flaggers from one mile south of SH-5 extending north near Altus for resurfacing.
US-75 narrowed near Okmulgee, Okmulgee Co.
US-75 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between Henryetta and Okmulgee for pavement rehabilitation.
SH-19 and SH-3W junction near Ada, Pontotoc Co.
The junction of eastbound SH-19 and eastbound SH-3W near Range Line Rd. (County Road 3530) near Ada is narrowed, with both highways merging into one lane, as part of an intersection improvement project. Drivers should be aware of the limited merging distance and should use extra caution in this area.
SH-19 closed at SH-115, Kiowa Co.
SH-19 is closed at SH-115 near Saddle Mountain extending east 3.5 miles for bridge rehabilitation. Traffic is detoured at SH-115 to SH-9 to SH-58.
SH-9A closed at the junction of SH-9A/SH-9, Pittsburg Co.
SH-9A is closed at the junction of SH-9A/SH-9 south of Eufaula for reconstruction of the intersection.
US-412 narrowed near US-69, Mayes Co.
US-412 is narrowed to one lane in each direction west of the US-69 junction near Chouteau for a bridge rehabilitation project.
US-412 narrowed near Inola, Rogers Co.
US-412 is narrowed to one lane in each direction at the Verdigris River west of Inola for a bridge rehabilitation project.
SH-38 closed near Jet, Alfalfa Co.
SH-38 over the Salt Fork of Arkansas River about 9 miles north of the US-64 junction near Jet is closed for bridge rehabilitation. Traffic is detoured on US-64 to SH-132 to SH-11.
Oklahoma City Metro
I-240 lane, ramp closures at Shields Blvd.
I-240 is narrowed to two lanes in each direction between Santa Fe Ave. (mm 3A) and I-35 (mm 4) for ongoing I-35/I-240 Crossroads interchange reconstruction.. The eastbound I-240 off-ramp to Shields Blvd. and the westbound I-240 on-ramp from Shields Blvd. are permanently closed. Drivers must use the on/off ramps at Santa Fe Ave.
Lindsey St. bridge, ramps at I-35 closed in Norman
The Lindsey St. bridge over I-35 and all I-35 on- and off-ramps at Lindsey St. in Norman are closed for interchange reconstruction. Drivers are detoured to SH-9 East. Southbound I-35 traffic exiting to SH-9 East now uses the loop ramp south of Lindsey St.
I-244/23rd St. bridge project – lane, ramp closures
As part of an ongoing bridge rehabilitation project, scheduled for overall completion in early 2018:
• The westbound I-244/southbound US-75 off-ramp to 21st St. (mm 3B) is closed until further notice.
• The east and westbound lanes of the 23rd St. bridge over I-244/US-75 are narrowed to one lane in each direction until further notice.
US-75/US-64/SH-51 bridge projects on Inner Dispersal Loop
As part of an ongoing bridge rehabilitation project along the south leg of the Inner Dispersal Loop, delays can be expected especially during peak travel times:
• All lanes of Cheyenne Ave. and Boston Ave. are closed over the south leg of the Inner Dispersal Loop until further notice.
• Northbound US-75/eastbound US-64/SH-51 and southbound US-75/westbound US-64/SH-51 (south leg IDL) are narrowed to two open lanes in each direction until further notice.
US-412/US-64 narrowed at 161st W. Ave.
East and westbound US-412/US-64 is narrowed to one lane in each direction and a wide-load restriction in place near 161st W. Ave. (Shell Creek) through late 2016 as part of a bridge rehabilitation project. Drivers should plan ahead for extra travel time in the corridor.
SH-51 narrowed west of SH-97 junction
East and westbound SH-51 is narrowed to one open lane in each direction and a wide load restriction in place about 6 miles west of the SH-97 junction until late 2016 for surface repairs. Drivers should plan ahead for extra travel time in the corridor.
SH-266 widening project east of US-169
Drivers should be alert to crews and traffic shifts along SH-266 (46th St. North) from east of the US-169 junction extending two miles to the east as part of an ongoing widening project.
