NORMAN, Okla. – Sooner and Cowboy fans are gearing up for a big weekend, but one OU player will not be returning to the Sooners’ defense.

Michiah Quick spent two seasons as a receiver for the Sooners, but decided to join the defense this season.

Earlier this season, he started at cornerback but suffered an injury against Texas in the Red River Rivalry game. That injury sidelined him for much of the season.

Sooner fans were expecting his return for the next major gridiron battle against Oklahoma State.

On Monday, OU head coach Bob Stoops announced that Quick was no longer a member of the team after violating team rules.

The No. 7 Sooners will take on the No. 11 Cowboys in Norman on Saturday.

Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m.
