QUEENS, N.Y. - A couple in New York is recovering after a violent home invasion sent them to the hospital.

Doctors tell WPIX that 58-year-old Henry Wright was shot five times and his wife, 52-year-old Sharon Floyd-Wright, was shot once in the shoulder.

However, authorities say it could have been worse had it not been for Floyd-Wright's quick thinking.

On Sunday night, officials say that two men forced their way into the couple's home. After watching her husband be shot several times in the chest and being shot in the shoulder herself, Floyd-Wright managed to grab a hammer and hit one of the alleged attackers in the head with the tool.

At that point, the suspects took off and have not been found.
