NEW STANTON, Pa. –  Police say a 14-year-old Pennsylvania boy shot his mother and 8-year-old brother once each in the forehead as they slept, then called 911, insinuating his father was responsible for the shooting.

State Police Trooper Stephen Limani says Jacob Remaley, 14, called 911 just before 7 a.m. Wednesday, saying his mom and younger brother were dead and his father placed a gun in his bed before leaving the house.

“Why didn’t he kill me? I need help,” he told dispatchers before he hung up the phone.

When authorities arrived, Jacob was walking down the road with a gun in his hand, WPXI reports.

A neighbor was able to convince Jacob to put the gun down.

State police say Jacob later told them he took a gun from atop the refrigerator and shot Dana Remaley, 46, and Caleb Remaley, 8, after his father, David, went to work.

“That firearm wasn’t loaded at the time. He went and got a magazine, loaded that firearm, walked into his mother’s room – and from a very short distance away, fired one round into her forehead, subsequently killing her, and then walked into his brother’s room and repeated the same act,” Trooper Steve Limani said.

Jacob also allegedly told police he would have shot his father, too, had he been home.

Limani says the only indication of a motive is that the teen and his parents weren’t getting along lately.

“The only real conclusion we could draw from some of our investigation was that he had a difference with his parents – when it came to maybe not getting along with them that well. His brother, it’s very difficult to actually have an answer for why. I really don’t specifically have an answer for why. It doesn’t seem like there was any type of [tumultuous] relationship between he and his brother. If anything, it was actually fairly good for people that are six years apart as siblings,” Trooper Stephen Limani said.

The 14-year-old suspect is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.

Jacob Remaley has been charged as an adult in the shooting deaths of his mother and brother.

He is awaiting arraignment on two counts each of criminal homicide and first-degree murder.
