CARTER COUNTY, Okla. – Authorities in Carter County are searching for a man who is accused of mutilating a family’s cats.

According to KXII, the family told police that six of their cats were tortured to death near their homes.

Investigators learned the animals had been hanged in trees, suffocated in a trash bag and even burned to death.

Authorities say the alleged suspect is Eric Arias. Arias doesn’t have a history of animal cruelty, but was warrant out for his arrest in Pontotoc County.

“We’re doing everything we can to find him. He knows we’re looking for him. He’s hiding out,” said Carter County Sheriff Chris Bryant.

Arias is described as a 25-year-old Hispanic man, standing 5’9″ tall and weighing 135 pounds.
