MALIBU, Calif. - Living by the beach is a dream for a lot of Americans, but it's a dream that became a reality for Dr. Warren Lent and his wife, Henny.

Lent, a prominent plastic surgeon, purchased the home in Malibu years ago and began using it as a rental unit.

However, they are now being fined more than $4.2 million because they allegedly blocked a public easement, preventing beach-goers from accessing the beach near their property.

Commissioners with the California Coastal Commission say the case was a "flagrant violation" of state law, adding that couple refused several requests by officials to remove an unauthorized gate, fence, stairway and deck that blocked the easement, according to KTLA.
