Oklahoma TV icon Ida Blackburn dies

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma TV icon Ida Blackburn has died.

According to a Facebook post, Blackburn, known as Ida B, died Saturday night.

“It has been a long journey to the peace she now has, now we are left without having her to make life a great deal more interesting,” the post said. “Those who knew her will know she gave her best fight to stay on earth, now she is with God.”

The post also said “the memorial service will planned soon.”

Blackburn started broadcasting in the late 1950s and stayed on the air until the 70s.

She is survived by her husband, two children and grandchildren.
