Deputies: Minor traffic infraction leads to discovery of drugs worth $135,000

EL RENO, Okla. – A Virginia man was arrested for trafficking drugs by Canadian County Sheriff’s deputies following a traffic violation.

On Nov. 22, deputies stopped 52-year-old John Forrest for following too closely along eastbound I-40.

Forrest told deputies that he was heading from a friend’s home in California back to his house in Virginia.

He gave deputies permission to search his rental car, where they allegedly found 36 pounds of marijuana, 150 grams of liquid THC and 1 kilo of cocaine.

Officials say the drugs are estimated to be worth more than $135,000.

Forrest was arrested on complaints of trafficking marijuana and trafficking cocaine.
