HENDRIX, Okla. – A 73-year-old Oklahoma man is facing charges after dozens of animals were found sick and living in crowded conditions on his property.

Officials say Carol Garrison was arrested on charges of animal cruelty.

According to KXII, deputies from the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office say they found at least a dozen dogs with hair loss and mangy conditions.

“It was an atrocity that these animals were living in this type of environment,” Jeff Wilson, with the sheriff’s office, said. “They were definitely malnourished. Although he was feeding them, it wasn’t enough dog food to feed all of them.”

Records report that some of the dogs had trouble getting off the ground.

Neighbors say that people in the area have been dumping unwanted animals on the property for years.

Now, the sheriff’s office is working with two rescues on seizing the rest of the dogs.
