RATTAN, Okla. – Authorities in one Oklahoma town are looking into allegations of an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a high school student.

The Pushmataha County Sheriff’s Office says it received a tip about the alleged relationship from the superintendent of Rattan Public Schools.

According to KXII, a 28-year-old teacher turned in her resignation the same day the sheriff’s office received the tip.

Investigators believe that the former junior high teacher may have been having a relationship with a 17-year-old high school student.

Rattan Superintendent Shari Pillow said in a written statement, “If any allegations were made about any inappropriate behavior involving faculty, staff, or students, the situation would be handled aggressively and appropriately.”

So far, no charges have been filed in the case.
