OCEANSIDE, Calif. - An 11-year-old boy is recovering after he was accidentally shot in his apartment complex.

Authorities were called to the complex on Saturday evening after witnesses saw the boy bleeding.

"I saw one kid grabbing his neck and his hand, and he was just bleeding. Another kid was holding his knee, and I said, 'What happened?' And he said, 'I don't know, I think we got shot," Carlos Millan told FOX 5.

When police arrived, the victim told them he was skateboarding with his friends when he heard a loud pop and then felt pain in his hand.

After searching the area, police found the alleged shooter who said he was unloading his rifle when he accidentally fired a bullet through the exterior wall of his apartment.

The shooting is still under investigation. No word on if charges will be filed in the case.
