TULSA, Okla. – Authorities say a man is dead in Tulsa after refusing to obey commands and put down a weapon.

Just after 1 p.m. on Sunday, police were called to a home in the 4000 block of 8th St. after witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the area.

When officers arrived, they say a man came out of a home with a gun.

“When officers got here, the individual came out once and I believe went back inside the residence. Ultimately, came back outside in the street and was pointing the weapon,” Leland Ashley, with the Tulsa Police Department, told KJRH.

At that point, authorities shot and killed the man.

When they went inside the man’s home, they stumbled upon a gruesome scene.

Investigators say a woman and three dogs had been shot and killed inside the home. Another dog was found injured.

Authorities say they believe the man who was shot was likely the suspect in the murder.

So far, no names have been released.
