Multiple grass fires destroy at least three houses in central Oklahoma

LOGAN COUNTY, Okla. - Crews are responding after a grass fire has spread to structures in Logan County.

The fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday near Charter Oak Road and Broadway.

Crews said at least two houses in the area have been destroyed.

A tank battery is also reportedly on fire nearby.

Crews are working to to get it under control.

Black Hawk helicopters are assisting, as well.


Much of Oklahoma is currently under a Red Flag Warning.


Crews highly discourage outdoor burning until the warnings expire.

Due to the fire, Edmond Public Schools said some students who ride buses are staying at school for now.

Parents may either pick up the students or wait until it's safe for the buses to drop them off.

At least four other fires were reported Tuesday in Oklahoma City:

  • in the 400 block of N. MacArthur
  • in the 9300 block of N.W. 99th Circle
  • near S.W. 40th and Lee
  • near Broadway and Sherwood Lane, where a third house has been destroyed.
