BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – A Broken Arrow mother was arrested after her three-year-old child was found at home alone and covered in feces.
It started Wednesday morning when police pulled over 24-year-old Breanna Swanson for speeding. She was driving 70 mph in a 40 mph zone and had just dropped off her older child at school.
After pulling her over, police noticed she had several outstanding warrants. She also had an expired tag on the car and was unable to show valid insurance.
During the traffic stop, Swanson asked officers if she was going to jail and then told them about her other child at home alone.
“It later came out that the driver had left a three-year-old child at home in order to take an older child to a nearby elementary school,” James Koch with the Broken Arrow Police Department told Fox 23.
Officers then escorted her to the home where the child was found alone, covered in feces and within reach of marijuana.
Swanson was arrested for child neglect and other outstanding warrants.
The children are safe and have been placed with other family members.
