OSBI agents arrested Wyatt Arp

ATOKA COUNTY, Okla. – Authorities say a 20-year-old man has been arrested following the death of his father.

On Thursday evening, deputies with the Atoka County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home in the 500 block of S. Bentley Rd. in Atoka following a reported shooting.

Agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation were also called to the scene.

When agents arrived at the home, investigators say 55-year-old Douglas Arp had died from his injuries.

Arp’s son, 20-year-old Wyatt Arp, told investigators that he had dropped a gun, which caused the weapon to fire. He claims that the bullet then hit his father.

On Monday, OSBI agents questioned Wyatt Arp again and arrested him on one count of first-degree murder.
