OKLAHOMA CITY – Authorities have identified the man who was shot to death by police in Oklahoma City after an alleged struggle.

Around 6:20 p.m. Sunday, police were called to “check the welfare” of a man on the grass beside the road in the 4700 block of S.E. 59th St.

When Officer Bethany Sears arrived on scene, she made contact with the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Kyle Anthony Mihecoby.

Police said that Mihecoby became combative and Officer Sears attempted to use her pepper spray and taser to control the suspect.

Officials say a struggle occurred between the officer and the suspect over the officer’s firearm.

Officer Sears then shot the suspect, killing him.

Officer Sears was treated at a local hospital for injuries she sustained during the altercation.
