TULSA, Okla. – A Tulsa woman who allegedly stole a vehicle returned it after realizing a child was inside of the car.

Around 3:30 a.m. Monday, Micah Fester, 18, allegedly stole a vehicle from the Haney’s Super Shop in Tulsa.

According to the Tulsa World, the child’s father left the vehicle idling in the parking lot with the child inside while he ran into the store.

When he came out, he realized his child and vehicle were missing and called police.

Police spotted the vehicle a few blocks away, but Fester ignored the emergency lights until she returned to the convenience store.

According to the Tulsa World, Fester told police she was unaware the vehicle was occupied until she heard the child cough.

“Upon discovery of the child, she made the decision to return the location,” Tulsa Police Cpl. Kathleen Whitehead said in a news release.

She was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and driving without a license.
